Swans set for training boost
The Championship outfit plan to move to the site at the former BSC sports ground in Landore within two years - subject to planning permission.
Director Gwilym Joseph told the club's official website: "It's taken a long time to conclude the agreement but it's been worthwhile because it's the first step in achieving a full academy in Swansea, while protecting the present status of a school of excellence and accommodating football in the community.
"We have made no secret of the fact that Swansea City Football Club's long-term goal is to achieve academy status so we can attract and keep the best young players in the area.
"With the club now serious Championship contenders, this goal has now become even more of a priority. This new development will be a massive boost not only to the club, our centre of excellence department and all aspiring young footballers in the area, but also to the community as a whole."
Meanwhile, the Swans will face Championship rivals Scunthorpe at home in the second round of the Carling Cup in the week commencing Monday August 24.
