Sousa: Swans win came at a cost

Having been hauled down as he homed in on the Posh goal, Cotterill rifled in his spot-kick in the 19th minute of Saturday's clash at the Liberty Stadium to keep the Swans' promotion hopes on track.[LNB]A lack of punch up front kept the visitors in the game right up to the final whistle, and Swansea are now the Championship's lowest scorers with 30 goals - but of far more concern to Sousa were the early departures of star midfielders Darren Pratley and Ferrie Bodde.[LNB]Dutch midfielder Bodde had a recurrence of the knee injury that has kept him out for the last five months, and with midfield partner Pratley also off injured, the Swansea midfield failed to function in their usual fluid manner.[LNB]"It is very important to keep on winning but it was a tough game for us today," said Sousa.[LNB]"The injuries made it difficult for us and we will have to see the results of scans before we know the extent of the injuries of Darren Pratley and Ferrie Bodde.[LNB]"Midfield could now be a problem for us in the coming matches and we may have to play different shapes to get over it as we have now lost two players in each of the last two games.[LNB]"We had a number of chances to score more goals, which would have relaxed us, but it never happened.[LNB]"We are looking to win games and be competitive but we may have to go into the loan market to cover all these injuries to our midfield players."[LNB]It was one-way traffic from the first whistle but the Swans failed to carve out any clear openings until Cotterill's successful spot-kick.[LNB]Even with the advantage of a one-goal lead against the division's bottom club, the Swans failed to add to the score because of wayward shooting and a couple of fine saves by Posh keeper Joe Lewis.[LNB]Lee Trundle - on the for the unfortunate Bodde - and Shefki Kuqi both failed to hit the target when well placed and that led to a few anxious moments on the odd occasions that the visitors made it into the Swansea half.[LNB]"They took their chance and that was the difference," said Peterborough boss Jim Magilton.[LNB]"I felt it wasn't a penalty as we had crowded their player out but the referee saw it differently.[LNB]"We never showed enough technique to bother Swansea and force ourselves into the game but it is a work in progress at this club this season.[LNB]"I want to bring a bit of pride back into our game and I think we did that, but we have to continue to work hard so that we are ready for next season, whichever division we may find ourselves in."[LNB][LNB]
