RM: Incident tarnished reputation

07 April 2009 13:25
Referee Mike Dean was struck on the head by a coin in the closing stages of the first half at Ninian Park and required medical treatment to stop blood dripping from the cut. A unnamed supporter was identified and arrested following the incident, and has since been charged by South Wales Police and is now due to appear in court on Monday April 20. "The incident with the referee wasn't the only one. People have talked about one coin being thrown but there were many, many others thrown onto the pitch and that's a shame." Martinez said. "It's disappointing because you look at the British media and they are all talking first about the coin incident. "They have forgotten about the good things in the Welsh derby, the quality of the game, and that's bad for both clubs and for Welsh football."
