Monk has been out with a calf injury since the end of October and is anxious to help his team over the busy Christmas period.[LNB]The centre back went for a scan on Monday and is hopeful about a quick return.[LNB]"They told me I could now press on and I'm hoping to be back training with the lads by the end of the week," he told the South Wales Evening Post.[LNB]Swansea have been coping well in the player's absence. Last weekend's defeat to Nottingham Forest was only the second in 15 matches and Monk has been impressed with their form.[LNB]"We have done really well and I'm proud of the boys," he said. "Even against Forest, the football in the first half was some of the best we've played and we should have been ahead at half-time. We've got to remember that the only defeats we've had recently have been against Forest and Newcastle, two sides who have spent huge money in this league."[LNB][LNB]
