Mclean to the rescue for Posh

The Championship's bottom side looked set to hand new boss Mark Cooper his first victory since succeeding Darren Ferguson last month through Chris Whelpdale's 55th-minute volley.[LNB]Fine saves from Dorus de Vries denied both Whelpdale and Craig Mackail-Smith a second Posh goal before Swansea boss Paulo Sousa turned to club legend Lee Trundle with 20 minutes remaining.[LNB]The veteran striker was sent on as part of a double substitution and soon made his mark by single-handedly transforming the contest.[LNB]Trundle escaped the attention of Exodus Geohaghon and danced into the box before beating Joe Lewis with a classy low finish.[LNB]And two minutes into added time he was at it again, wriggling free from Geohaghon before unleashing a fine strike from the edge of the box.[LNB]But that was not the end of the action as Mclean was on hand to slot home his seventh goal of the season from close range after strike partner Mackail-Smith had delivered.[LNB]It was a strike met with delight from the home camp, but one which left Sousa infuriated.[LNB]"There was only one team with the mentality to win the game," he said. "We produced all the football and did everything we could to get the three points.[LNB]"I do not feel we deserved to be behind anyway. Anything can happen at a throw-in like the one for their first goal and in my opinion there was a foul on Gorka Pintado from behind.[LNB]"It is not a fair goal but my team showed a good reaction to come back and score two goals to get ourselves ahead.[LNB]"But we have to show more maturity after making such a big effort. It is very disappointing to leave with only one point."[LNB]Swansea had been the dominant force in the opening period but struggling Posh were much more of a match for them after the interval.[LNB]Cooper said: "We had been behind at half-time in our two previous games and were anxious to make sure that didn't happen again.[LNB]"A team with Swansea's footballing ability can cut you to pieces and we couldn't afford to let that happen.[LNB]"In the second half we were the better team. We got ourselves 1-0 up, should have gone 2-0 and could have been 3-0.[LNB]"You always think the game has gone when you fall behind that late, but the lads never know when they are beaten, kept going and earned a point."[LNB][LNB][LNB]
