The Swans have enjoyed a rapid rise under the Spaniard, winning League One last season and mounting a healthy play-off challenge in the Championship this time around. And ahead of the Welsh derby with Cardiff on Sunday, the 35-year-old admits he would like to see both clubs make the step up to the top flight. "The next step is to see this derby in the Premier League," he told the Swansea Evening Post. "It is great to see how far we have come, but we need to push it to the next step. "We are moving in the right direction. The football club has no debt whatsoever, we have Premier League facilities at the stadium and the training facilities are not far away from Premier League status. "So it is about football terms in getting there. We have shown Premier League quality in periods this season, and if you want to get to that level you need to be consistent."
