Michael Laudrup has challenged his Swansea side to show the mentality that can move the club to the next level.
Swansea have enjoyed an excellent first season under their Danish manager, winning the Capital One Cup and comfortably reaching the 40-point mark. But since getting getting to 40 with a win over Newcastle, which came just six days after beating Bradford at Wembley, the south Wales club have suffered three straight defeats, the latest being the 2-1 loss against Tottenham on Saturday.
"The last thing I want is to lose seven of the last 10 games," said Laudrup. "If we look at the four games after the cup final you cannot say we have not had the right attitude, there have been moments where the opponent has dominated but we have had at least a half where we have been better than the other team."
He added: "We have just needed a bit of luck in our finishing and not being good enough in a couple of areas. But it is something you have to learn about.
"The cup will be talked about forever at this club because it was the first one, but the Premier League season is very important and we need to keep going and start getting results so we can say we have finished where we should.
"We should be mid-table, somewhere around 10th place and to do worse than that would be a pity. It would be a shame if on May 19 we finish 14th after being great for two-thirds of the season."
And with European competition on the horizon next season, Laudrup believes the club now need to raise their future targets.
"We have to use this situation for next season as a team," he said.
"When you look at the big clubs they can play bad and win and that is something we have to achieve too. We cannot compare ourselves to them, but we have to keep taking small steps in mentality to become a bigger club and that should be one of the aims for this club.
"It may take six or seven years but we are a young team in just our second Premier League season and we are in mid-table. It will not be easy, but there has to be a change of mentality as a team and individually at this club."
