Knill plays down Swansea link

Current Swans boss Roberto Martinez is widely expected to be appointed as the new manager of his former club Wigan this week and Knill is an early favourite to replace him at the Liberty Stadium. Knill made 89 appearances for the Swans in the late 80s before moving to Bury. He has transformed the Shakers into promotion contenders in League Two and admits he is flattered by the speculation. He told the Bury Times: "To be linked to Swansea is flattering but there isn't a job there at the moment. "I must say, however, that they are a great club with unbelievable potential. They are now starting to realise some of that potential since they moved into their new stadium. "It is good to be linked with the job, but I wouldn't even be in the frame if my players hadn't performed so well this season."
