Martinez is expected to be unveiled by the Latics early next week, following Steve Bruce's switch to Premier League rivals Sunderland. Hughes, a former Swansea defender, took Falkirk into the Scottish Premier League and kept them there - while steering them to this season's Homecoming Scottish Cup final. He told BBC Wales: "I'm contracted to Falkirk, I'm enjoying my job at Falkirk and it would have to be an official approach for anything else to happen. "It's a massive club, I had a great time at Swansea when I was there. "I'm flattered to be linked with such a good club, a wonderful city and really warm people. "I would be very interested if the approach was official."
