Gylfi Sigurdsson plans to become a Swansea record-breaker before the end of the season.
Sigurdsson's strike in the 1-0 victory over Chelsea on Saturday was his 25th Barclays Premier League goal for Swansea, equalling the mark of the club's former Ivorian striker Wilfried Bony.
It was Sigurdsson's 11th goal of the season, and his nin th in the last 14 games, with the Iceland international playing a huge part in securing Swansea's top-flight status.
Swansea's first league win over Chelsea since April 1981 took them to the 40-point mark generally regarded enough for survival and in sight of a sixth successive top-flight campaign.
"I had been told I was getting closer (to Bony's total) and that has driven me on a bit," said Sigurdsson after his sweet volley inflicted a first league defeat on Chelsea since interim manager Guus Hiddink returned to the club in December.
"It is a great achievement and I'm happy to be up there with Bony as he is a very good player.
"Hopefully I can get the next one by the end of season and get one over Bony.
"I probably wasn't too happy with myself before the turn of the year.
"I'd only managed two goals, but it's been good to score goals at an important time of the season.
"I'm very happy getting into double figures."
Swansea's safety was secured by a third successive home win - the first time they have managed to do that since 2013.
Francesco Guidolin was appointed head coach in January and the Italian has won six of his 12 games in charge to boost his hopes of staying in the job next season.
"When results are going our way it looks really good for the manager and for the chairman (Huw Jenkins) who made the decision to change things," said Sigurdsson.
"That's the way it is when things are going your way.
"He brought his own ideas and is very organised being Italian, he likes a clean sheet that's for sure.
"Things just seem easier when you build up a bit of a gap, and hopefully we can kick on now and get a few more points.
"It's a big relief to get the 40 points and hopefully that will be enough."
