Gomez's Swans future in balance

The midfielder was an impressive performer for the Swans in the recent Championship campaign, netting 14 goals during his season-long loan from Espanyol. And although the Liberty Stadium outfit have first refusal on the 23-year-old should the Spanish club decide to release him, Martinez accepts that his form for Swansea will have turned the heads of other clubs. "Jordi is going to be a difficult one," he told the Swansea Evening Post. "We are talking about a player who has grown massively in the last season and his valuation has gone through the roof. "There is a lot of interest in him and he is going to have a lot of options which are financially miles better than what we can offer him. If he was going to make a football decision, 100% he would stay with us for the long-term. "Unfortunately, in the modern game, I don't think it's going to be as straight forward as that."
