De Vries keeps Pascoe smiling
Swansea assistant manager Colin Pascoe conceded his side had "ridden their luck" after progressing through to the second round of the Carling Cup with a 3-0 home win over battling Barnet.
Dutchman Cedric van der Gun set the Swans on their way, Darren Pratley grabbed the killer second goal and Shefki Kuqi, who had earlier missed a penalty with the score goalless, fired a third late on.
Pascoe said: "We wanted to get it through and it wasn't as easy as the scoreline suggests.
"We could have been three or four down inside 20 minutes. We rode our luck at times and we must no forget that. Our goalkeeper Dorus de Vries had to make plenty of saves to keep us in it.
"We took time getting going. There was some young guys playing and some players coming back from injury, so that was always going to be the case.
"It was a good workout for everyone and nice for Brendan (Rodgers) to get his first win."
