Davies out to set record straight

Wales international Davies has a number of friends in the Championship side, not to mention others who follow the club, and he was happy to play up the Cottagers' chances before the teams drew 1-1 in the initial fifth-round clash at the Liberty Stadium.[LNB]But Swansea enjoyed the better of the play for large periods and were unlucky not to progress.[LNB]Now Davies is ready to make good on his earlier promises.[LNB]"I lived an hour west of Swansea when I was growing up. It was the closest team to me," he said.[LNB]"Before the game, I was me texting them saying 'we'll be giving you a roasting' - and I got egg on my face on that one.[LNB]"I hope there's a few things we can put right.[LNB]"I've got a few friends who are (Swansea fans), and a lot of friends went to the game. That's why it was frustrating.[LNB]"It was my local team, and they were saying 'My God, Fulham were lucky, you were crap'."[LNB]Fulham have virtually no preparation time for the game, having beaten West Brom 2-0 in the Premier League just on Sunday. But their domination of that match - they hit the woodwork on four occasions in addition to their goals - could yet stand them in good stead.[LNB]Reflecting on their prospects, Davies added: "It's a game I'm really looking forward to.[LNB]"If we play like we did on Sunday we're confident we'll get the result."[LNB]Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson has already made clear his opposition to the fixture list his side have been handed and has admitted it may force him into changes he would be otherwise loth to make.[LNB]"Our people tried every avenue to get the game changed, so that we would have a better preparation time, but unfortunately they didn't succeed," said Hodgson.[LNB]"I don't want to make any more of a fuss of it than I'm already making by saying that one day's preparation is not enough. That's just stating an obvious fact.[LNB]"We have a high energy game and we ask a lot of our players.[LNB]"With only one day's rest, it's going to be very hard for those players to go and give the same performance again.[LNB]"I'm not anxious to make big changes - that's not something I want to do. But it might be forced upon me, because I want to put a team out that can run around for 90 minutes and work hard."[LNB]Baggies manager Tony Mowbray, meanwhile, had a warning for Swansea about the quality at Hodgson's disposal - after seeing his side outclassed at Craven Cottage.[LNB]"You have to be realistic about this league - Fulham were better than we were," he said.[LNB]"We all sat and watched Man Utd against Fulham in midweek and saw the gulf in quality, and you could see against us that they had the experience out on the field.[LNB]"They have a lot of Premier League experience, and you could see that.[LNB]"We came to try and be resilient, try to make life difficult and stay in the game as long as we could. But they created enough chances and had enough shots on our goal to win the game."[LNB][LNB]
