Britton sings praises of Bony

Leon Britton has warned Rio Ferdinand and his fellow Manchester United defenders they will be left battered and bruised by Swansea powerhouse Wilfried Bony at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Swans play host to Manchester United for David Moyes' first Barclays Premier League game in charge of the reigning champions.

It will also mark Ivory Coast international Bony's first appearance in the English top flight following his club-record £12million move from Vitesse Arnhem.

The 24-year-old showed glimpses of the talent which helped him net 31 goals in 32 Eredivisie games by scoring twice on his Swansea debut against Malmo in the Europa League.

United will prove a far sterner test of his ability, but midfielder Britton expects the sturdy striker to prove a real handful for Ferdinand and company.

"He's such a strong lad. If you look at his legs they're like tree trunks," said Britton.

"He's going to give not just Rio and Vidic, or whoever plays on Saturday, but all Premier League defenders a tough time.

"He's a physical boy, similar to Jason Scotland in a way, but stronger and a bit more mobile.

"Defenders will know they've been in a game when they've played against him.

"He's good in the air and since Jason left we haven't had that focal point, someone who can hold the ball up.
