The former West Ham trainee has played an integral role in Paulo Sousa's side's 10-match unbeaten run, which has seen them climb to ninth in the table.

The Swans had the likes of Andrea Orlandi, Jordi Lopez and Thomas Butler waiting in the wings on the bench in their victory against arch-rivals Cardiff on Saturday.

And Britton insists that can only be a good thing.

He said: "We are very strong in the midfield area. It is very competitive to secure a place in the team and you know that when you're in the side, you cannot afford to let your standard slip."

The Londoner added: "I'm happy with the way I'm playing at the moment and I'm just concentrating on making sure I carrying on playing well."
