The Dutchman, who has been sidelined since suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury last November, played 83 minutes in a 1-1 draw against Swindon's second string and was delighted to be back in action.
He told the club's official website: "It felt good to play a game again. I felt that I could have gone on to play the full 90 minutes, but I'm happy just to get back on the pitch. The knee felt good, it's getting stronger.
"I do need to get some more games under my belt but I feel that I am ready to become involved with the first team again."
