Veteran midfielder Dwight Yorke believes that he needs to impress in the coming months to earn a new contract with Sunderland.
The 36-year-old former Aston Villa, Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers star joined the Black Cats in the summer of 2006 and has just brought up a half-century of appearances for the Wearsiders.
However, Yorke's current contract runs out at the end of the current campaign and he is waiting to see whether a new deal is in the offing.
He told the Northern Echo: "Who knows what is in store for me next year? My contract runs out at the end of the season and I will have to sit and see what happens.
"In the meantime, I have just got to keep trying to do my best for Sunderland Football Club until the end of the season.
"I will keep going until the moment comes when I cannot help the team or contribute to the team in any way. Then I will walk away.
"Right now I am still enjoying the game, even though I would like to win a few more matches, which would make life a lot easier for all of us."
