Wickham Has Sights On Israel

Connor Wickham believes England's Under-21s can be a success in Israel.

England’s Under-21s overcame Austria 4-0 at Brighton’s Amex Stadium in what was their last match on home soil before they head to Israel in June.

While red cards either side of half-time no doubt helped the hosts’ cause, a record-breaking ninth win on the bounce and yet another clean sheet will only further boost morale among Pearce’s side.

England U-21s have won nine successive matches.

Connor Wickham: "We couldn’t ask for much more.

"It is a great record to have and going into the tournament other teams will know what we have done in the lead-up to Israel.

"I think it puts us in a really strong position going into the tournament.

"It’s just down to the players now to keep working hard and keep fit.

"Hopefully, we will take the strongest team possible to Israel."
