Welbeck hails Gordon

Sunderland striker Danny Welbeck says the reaction of his team-mates showed just how good Craig Gordon's save against Bolton was. The Scotland goalkeeper helped the Wearsiders to a 1-0 win over the Trotters with a stunning save from Zat Knight just before the interval that has drawn comparisons with Jim Montgomery's effort during the 1973 FA Cup final win over Leeds. And Welbeck, who scored the winner, believes Knight's astonishment and the way the Black Cats players rushed to congratulate Gordon highlighted the importance of the moment. The on-loan forward told the club website: "Craig made a great save, you knew that after seeing the reaction of the players afterwards. "Everyone ran over to him and gave him a pat on the back - thankfully he kept us in the game."
