Valerenga coy over Abdellaoue

Valerenga have refused to comment on whether their prized asset Mohammed Abdellaoue is close to signing for Sunderland. Black Cats boss Steve Bruce is said to have flown to Norway to watch the forward live as he bids to bring the 23-year-old to the Stadium of Light over the summer. The Norway international interested Manchester United last season but Valerenga refused their approach to take the left-sider on trial. Abdellaoue shot into the limelight for Skeid when he scored 40 goals in 86 league games before making the switch to Valerenga in 2007, with his 13 strikes from 28 appearances alerting a number of other clubs to take note. The gifted front man looks certain to move on this summer with Dutch clubs Feyenoord and FC Groningen also interested but sporting director Truis Haakonsen was tight-lipped about the situation. "Players in or players out is nothing we will comment on until it's a reality," he told Dagbladet.
