Upbeat Da Silva ready to adapt
14 Jul 2009 - 08:57:37
Paraguay international Paulo Da Silva is looking forward to starting a new chapter in his career after penning a three-year contract with Sunderland.
The 29-year-old moves to Wearside from Mexican side Toluca after starring for Italian sides Perugia and Venezia in the past.
He told the Black Cats' official website: "Firstly, I must adapt to life in England, then I want to help Sunderland to the best league position possible.
"It's a good challenge and I'm very happy to be in the best league in the world.
"Sunderland are a great club and I'm used to fighting for big things. I'm very happy and I wish the Premier League could start today."
Boss Steve Bruce has also signed Manchester United striker Fraizer Campbell this month but has promised up to three more new signings before the new season starts in just over four weeks' time.
He said: "We're busy working away behind the scenes making sure we're ready to get in who we want to get in."
