Turner: No favours for Tigers
22 Apr 2010 - 14:04:17
Sunderland defender Michael Turner has insisted he will have his eye on the ball when his side face former club and relegation-threatened Hull City on Saturday.
Turner enjoyed three successful seasons at the KC Stadium-based outfit, helping them clinch promotion to the Premier League for the first time at the end of the 2007/08 campaign.
He made a big-money switch to Wearside last summer and although he wants the Tigers to climb away from the foot of the table, his attention is now firmly on the Black Cats.
Speaking to reporters, he said: "I haven't really spoken to anyone at Hull about the mood in the camp but I'm sure they were disappointed with their result against Burnley the other week.
"Things look tough for them at the moment but they have to pick themselves up and concentrate on staying up. They've still got everything to play for and that includes the game against us.
"I'd like them to stay up. I've got friends still there and I'd like to see them stay in the Premier League.
"I've moved on now, though, and all my focus is on Sunderland and getting us as far up the table as possible."
