Turner tipped for England

MICHAEL TURNER has been tipped for England honours by his defensive partner, but only if he believes in his own ability.[LNB] Turner believes John Mensah is the best centre half he has played alongside and the Ghana international has returned the compliment.[LNB] Mensah is more than qualified to make an assessment on what it takes to play international football with 58 caps of his own. And the 27- year-old, who will appear for the Black Stars in this summer's World Cup in South Africa, believes his teammate can go on and star for England.[LNB] I've played with many players and Michael Turner impresses me because he is strong and aggressive, said Mensah. All the other defensive players at Sunderland are good as well, but he's the one centre-back I've played with most.[LNB] We have a good understanding and he's very, very strong, and intelligent as well. I believe he can play in any team he wants.[LNB] I believe one day he will play for his national team because he is a very good player.[LNB] I just think he needs more motivation to believe he can do it.[LNB] Darren Bent has picked up the Sunderland Supporters Player of the Season award, while Jordan Henderson was voted Young Player of the Season after a poll from Black Cats' supporters clubs around the country.[LNB]
