Transfer Gossip - January 12th

There is nothing like sticking to what you know and today's transfer rumours seem to suggest no different.

Steve Bruce, renowned for signings from South America during his time at both Wigan and Birmingham, seems intent on continuing the trend at Sunderland, having declared his interest in signing Paraguayan striker Salvador Cabanas.

Whether you can read too much into what Bruce is saying of late though, is hugely debatable. The Geordie gaffer for instance, today slapped a £40 million price tag on striker Kenwyne Jones, amid speculation linking him with a move to Premier League rivals Birmingham and Stoke. Has he lost the plot? I suppose Darren Bent is worth £60 million then Steve?

Meanwhile, well-renowned wheeler and dealer Arsene Wenger is believed to be in the market for a Frenchman for a change.

According to reports in the papers, Wenger is keen to bring in Everton striker Louis Saha to fill the void left by the injured Robin Van Persie. Whether the injury prone forward would prove as much of a hit at Arsenal as fellow countrymen Thierry Henry, Robert Pires, Emmanuel Petit and Patrick Vieira one could only hazard a guess...I think not.

Elsewhere, it is reported that Wigan are set to hijack Gary Caldwell's move from Celtic to Middlesbrough and Chelsea are again rumoured to be interested in Bosnian frontman Edin Dzeko, while Manchester City have been linked with...well, everyone.
