TRANSFER DEADLINE UPDATE - Tainio joins Brum
SUNDERLAND midfielder Teemu Tainio has joined Birmingham City on loan until the end of the season.[LNB] The 29-year-old Finland international joined Sunderland from Tottenham in July 2008 and went on to make 22 appearances for the club.[LNB] He also scored the opening goal in their recent 4-1 Carling Cup triumph over Norwich but has now been deemed surplus to requirements by Steve Bruce.[LNB] Tainio, who is currently with the Finland squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Azerbaijan on Saturday and Liechtenstein next Wednesday, could make his debut in the Midlands derby against Aston Villa on September 13.[LNB]
