TRANSFER DEADLINE UPDATE - Keane signs Sunderland pair
ROY KEANE has secured the signatures of midfielders Carlos Edwards and Grant Leadbitter who have joined Ipswich Town in a combined £4m deal.
Sunderland will recoup around £2.6m from the sale of Leadbitter and a potential further £1.35m for Edwards.
Chester-le-Street born Leadbitter, who flourished during Keane's reign at Sunderland, will leave Sunderland after making the progression from the club's youth system to the first team in December 2005.
Edwards was brought to Sunderland by Keane from Luton Town, in January 2007 but after helping the club secure promotion, he struggle to make an impact at Premier league level.
