‘Time to pick up away points’

PAULO Da Silva was handed a harsh reintroduction to English football with defeat to West Bromwich Albion.[LNB] The Paraguayan was back in contention after being rested following his country's participation in the World Cup, and the centre-half coped well at times with the gear change of Premier League life.[LNB] Alongside Titus Bramble for the first time since the former Wigan man's signing in the summer, Da Silva was given very little time to acquaint himself with his new defensive partner, as Baggies debutant Peter Odemwingie proved to be a thorn in their side, capping off a fine performance with a calmlytaken goal.[LNB] Da Silva said: It was a very difficult game for us.[LNB] The team played well for a lot of the game but in football if you switch off for one minute, you get punished. It only takes one occasion. That happened to us today. It is a difficult for us to take.[LNB] It is very frustrating. We know that we were not good enough away from home last season and now people will be asking the same questions about us away from home again this season.[LNB] We are good enough to win away but I don't know why we can't. It is very frustrating for everyone.[LNB] I feel it was a 0-0 game.[LNB] We did not play beautiful football but it was very close. But this is football one occasion changes everything.[LNB] Da Silva has featured in just one Sunderland away win he made his debut in the 4-1 win against Norwich City in the second round of the Carling Cup last August and was not selected for the Black Cats' last away win at Hull in April.[LNB] He said: The longer it goes without getting a win, the more difficult it is for us.[LNB] Last season we could not win away from home and for confidence we need something.[LNB] The mentality is OK going away from home. It is not a mental thing. But there is no confidence in us playing away from home.[LNB] When you lose and draw too many games away from home it is difficult.[LNB] When we step out away, we are a different team sometimes.[LNB] We need a run of two or three wins and then no one will ask us these questions about playing away from home.[LNB]
