    Time-keeping costly for Miller

    28 Feb 2008 - 11:41:44

Sunderland midfielder Liam Miller was transfer-listed by the Black Cats due to poor time-keeping on several occasions.

Boss Roy Keane punished the 27-year-old Republic of Ireland international on Wednesday, joining team-mates Ross Wallace, David Connolly, Graham Kavanagh, Stanislav Varga, Greg Halford, Ian Harte and Stephen Wright on the transfer list at the Stadium of Light.

Keane confirmed that he was content with Miller's performances on the pitch, but would not tolerate off-field slackness.

He said: "The problem is Liam's time-keeping, it's as simple as that. It's nothing to do with Liam as a player or as a lad.

"I've got a lot of time for Liam, but we set a very high standard at the football club and, unfortunately, Liam hasn't been able to match that, so we've put him on the transfer list and we'll see what happens.

"You've got to be on time for training. If a player is late once or twice, well and good. If he's late three or four times, maybe well and good.

"But when it goes beyond five, six, seven times, then you've got to draw the line. In any walk of life, you've got to be on time. We can't wait for anybody at the club."
