Sunderland defender Matt Kilgallon joins Doncaster on loan

Sunderland defender Matt Kilgallon has joined Doncaster Rovers on loan until the end of the season. Rovers bound: Matt Kilgallon has joined Doncaster on loan from Sunderland The 27-year-old centre-half only joined Sunderland a year ago from Sheffield United in a £1.5million deal, but has made just seven appearances for Steve Bruce. Kilgallon joined Middlesbrough on loan at the start of the season, but suffered a back injury which has sidelined him since August. However, he is now ready to return to action and Bruce has allowedhim to join Championship side Rovers to prove his fitness, and win amove away from Wearside. Rovers chairman John Ryan said: 'We're delighted to welcome Matt toDoncaster. 'The major shareholders of the board have once again clubbedtogether to show ambition by bringing in another player of PremierLeague quality.' York-bornKilgallon, who can also play at left-back, began his career at Leedsand made his first-team debut at Elland Road in 2004, moving on toSheffield United in 2007.
