Sunderland v Tottenham Hotspur Live

Former Tottenham striker Darren Bent will be hoping to put a dent in the Londoners' Champions League aspirations at the weekend, as Sunderland play host to Harry Redknapp's in-form side. Bent will want to bury the memories of a missed penalty against Spurs earlier this season and the Stadium of Light may well be place to do it. The Black Cats have been in impressive form on home soil, losing just one of their last 15 home games. Indeed, Tottenham themselves haven't beaten the Black Cats at the Stadium of Light in four attempts. Another player who may play a big part in the game is Bent's team-mate Kieran Richardson. The former Manchester United midfielder has enjoyed playing against Tottenham, scoring in two of his last three encounters with the London side. However, the Lilywhites' form can't be ignored, with the Euro-hopefuls winning their last five league games and scoring 12 goals in the process, at an impressive rate of 2.4 goals per game on average. Tottenham have also now strung together two consecutive away wins in the Premier League with victories over Wigan and Stoke and will be hoping to make it three on the trot, something they haven't achieved since December 2004. Top-scorer Jermain Defoe has missed three games with a hamstring injury, although he looks set to return to the side sooner rather than later. However, Vedran Corluka, Ledley King, Jermaine Jenas, Aaron Lennon, Jonathan Woodgate and Carlo Cudicini are all serious doubts for the game. Sunderland duo Andy Reid and John Mensah are also doubtful although both are close to a return. Ahead of the visit of Spurs, Black Cats defender Michael Turner is confident team-mate Bent can pitch in with a match-winning performance against his old club. "He's had a great season and I think there's more to come from him. He's always looking to score in the next game, especially so on Saturday," said Turner.
