18 April 2009 14:19
90 Manucho has another chance with a header but he can't make anything of it.[LNB]90 SUnderland make their final change as Cisse is replaced by Daryl Murphy.[LNB]90 We have four minutes of sdded time. More than enough for an equaliser.[LNB]89 Sunderland break but Malbranque's through ball is far too close to Myhill.[LNB]89 Richardson takes his frustration out on Ricketts and his booked.[LNB]88 Mendy skins Richardson and again Hull have a good chance to cross but again the cross is a poor one.[LNB]86 Manucho is not having a very good day. He has the chance to cross but it's easily cleared.[LNB]84 Manucho goes slightly closer than his previous effort with a long-range attempt, but it is still nowhere near the goal.[LNB]83 Mendy turns in the box and shoots but it sails both high and wide.[LNB]81 Mendy is given a talking to after he squared-up to Richardson. The former Man Utd player didn't respond and an incident is avoided.[LNB]80 Manucho tries an ambitious left-footed strike but doesn't connect cleanly. The ball just bounces the right side of the corner flag and goes for a goal kick.[LNB]79 Yet another change as Malbranque comes on for Carlos Edwards.[LNB]77 Both teams make a change. Kieron Richardson replaces Reid and Nick Barmby is on for Boateng.[LNB]76 Peter Lowe is still confident of a Hull equaliser. They have just under 15 minutes to produce one.[LNB]75 Hull midfielder Geovanni is brought off for Bernard Mendy.[LNB]74 Folan has a great chance but he flicks his header wide after a cross from Ricketts.[LNB]72 Sunderland break and have a four on two momentarily, but they delay and Hull have time to get back and clear.[LNB]70 Sunderland's defence hasn't been close to being penetrated by hull, even though the away side are having the lion's share of possession.[LNB]68 An attacking change from Phil Brown as Marney is brought off and replaced by Caleb Folan.[LNB]67 Hull are pressing forward more and more but still haven't created a proper chance yet. Boateng's efforts are the closest they've come.[LNB]65 Manucho is trying to make his presence felt in the box but he is still Hull's lone striker. Will Phil Brown introduce Cousin any time soon?[LNB]64 Sunderland are on the counter-attack and Leadbitter slots a through-ball to Reid, who's attempt sails over the bar.[LNB]62 Hull's fans are still in great voice and their team are starting to have a little more possession now.[LNB]58 Tainio was clattered by Turner but the resulting free-kick is extremely poor and harmlessly out for a goal kick.[LNB]57 Boateng lets rip again but once more sees the ball fly wide of the post. Gordon had it covered anyway.[LNB]56 Cisse was caught by Turner a couple of minutes ago but is still feeling the effects now.[LNB]54 Hull are leaving gaps at the back now as the game they surge forward in search of an equaliser. A Leadbitter cross is nodded on by Jones but the big striker can't find the target.[LNB]52 Boateng smashes a shot through a crowded penalty area but it flies inches wide of Gordon's post.[LNB]52 Sunderland's first goal also had a hint of offside about it. I'm sure Phil Brown will have even more reason to be angry when he sees the replay.[LNB]50 Cisse has another go at goal. The shot bounces right in front of Myhill but it's gathered in safely by the Hull keeper.[LNB]49 Sunderland have the ball in the net. It was bundled in by Jones from close range but he was offside after a header back across goal and it's disallowed.[LNB]45 Cisse almost makes it 2-0 within seconds of the restart. His is played through bu his shot is saved well by Myhill.[LNB]45 Kick-off. The second-half is underway.[LNB] Hull's odds have obviously drifted at SkyBet. If you fancy a ceomback it's 9/1 while a draw is now 7/2.[LNB]45 Half-time. Sunderland go in 1-0 up after a half that seemed destined to end goalless.[LNB]45 Cisse celebrated amongst the home fans and was booked for his exuberance.[LNB]45 GOAL - CISSE! Sunderland score on the stroke of half-time. Andy Reid whips the cross in, it's flicked on by Collins and Cisse heads into the bottom corner![LNB]45 Another Hull corner is floted in and is met by Turner but Bardsley clears the goalbound effort.[LNB]44 Marney shoots along the floor after a long throw but it slides wide of the post.[LNB]43 Sunderland press and Edwards flies in a cross but Myhill gathers very easily.[LNB]41 Leadbitter will be able to continue.[LNB]40 Another stoppage as Leadbitter is down with a head injury. He was caught unintentionally by Boateng's arm then unintentionally body checked in mid-air by Zayatte.[LNB]37 Kilbane is booked for a late tackle on Reid and there is a little scuffle as a result.[LNB]37 Fagan is brought down by Collins. The free-kick is flighted into the box by Kilbane but Sunderlands centre-backs head away.[LNB]36 Michael Turner is shown a yellow card for fouling Sunderland goalkeeper Craig Gordon.[LNB]34 Fagan appeals for a penalty after nicking the ball away from Davenport and going over the defender's outstretched leg. Mike Dean says no.[LNB]32 Manucho goes at the ball with a high foot but luckily does not catch Ferdinand in the face. Meanwhile, Dean Marney is down injured.[LNB]30 Half an hour gone and Kilbane's header remains the only clear cut chance.[LNB]29 The Hull defence switch-off from the corner and the ball almost trickles through to Davenport but is hoofed clear at the last chance by Andy Dawson.[LNB]28 Andy Reid takes over dead-ball duties from Leadbitter for a free-kick in a dangerous position. It hits the wall and deflects for a corner.[LNB]26 Anton Ferdinand is caught in possession by Manucho. Play is spread out wide to Geovanni, who crosses in for Kilbane, who's header draws a decent save from Craig Gordon.[LNB]24 The corner comes back to Geovanni and he shoots from a long way out. His shot is dipping but still way too high.[LNB]23 Geovanni fires in a shot from a free-kick that clips the wall and goes over the bar for another Hull corner. It's headed behind by Bardsley for yet another corner.[LNB]22 Danny Collins keeps the ball from going out of play brilliantly but his cross is too long and fails to find the head of either Cisse or Jones.[LNB]20 Geovanni takes a corner from the left but Calum Davenport manages to head away the danger.[LNB]18 Phil Brown is still complaining to referee Mike Dean.[LNB]17 Leadbitter floats in a corner but once again Myhill claims it and clears the danger.[LNB]16 Phil Brown is going crazy on the sidelines as referee Mike Dean gives a foul on Geovanni, who was adjudged to have brought down Carlos Edwards.[LNB]14 Phil Bardsley loops a free-kick into the box but Myhill comes and claims it with authority.[LNB]13 Ben says he can't understand Phil Brown's team selection, unless he is playing 4-3-3. He's actually playing 4-5-1. Ben also says Cousin should start if he's fit. We could see Cousin make an appearance from the bench later if Hull are in need of a goal.[LNB]10 Sunderland have a free-kick after Cisse was fouled by Turner, but Leadbitter smashes it straight into the wall.[LNB]8 It's a terrific atmosphere at the Stadium of Light with both sets of fans making lots of noise.[LNB]7 Reid plays a ball through to Cisse but Myhill comes way outside his box to clear with his head before the former Liverpool striker can pounce.[LNB]6 Geovanni's cross is poor and collected by Gordon.[LNB]5 Hull press forward with high, looping balls into the penalty area, one of which is deflected wide for a corner.[LNB]4 Kenwyne Jones is down on the ground after being caught by Michael Turner. The big striker is up quickly and okay to continue.[LNB]3 Geovanni crosses for Hull but it's just too high for Manucho and Sunderland clear the danger.[LNB]2 Sunderland have early possession and are currently content to pass it around in midfield.[LNB]0 Kick-off! Hull get us underway at the Stadium of Light.[LNB] The teams are walking out onto the pitch in front of over 40 000 Sunderland fans, as well as the travelling contingent from Hull.[LNB] The atmosphere is building at the Stadium of Light and we are about five minutes from kick-off.[LNB] Hull fan Richard messages in with this: "City need to tighten up around the edge of the box and limit the chance for long shots. If they can keep Sunderland out, then we can maybe create something to get the 3 points."[LNB] If results conspire against Hull, they could be in 17th place at the end of the day.[LNB] A Sunderland victory could move them five points clear of the drop zone if Middlesbrough lose at Fulham. If Boro win and Hull are victorious in this encounter, the Black Cats will drop into the bottom three.[LNB] Hosts Sunderland are favourites for this match over at SkyBet with odds of 10/11. Hull are 3/1 outsiders and a draw is available at 5/2.[LNB] So this is a match some pundits would call a "relegation six-pointer". If you have any views or predictions on the match send me and e-mail at alex.williams@bskyb.com and I'll post a selection.[LNB] So Dean Whitehead loses his race with fitness while fellow injury doubt Kieron Richardson is included in the squad. For Hull, Daniel Cousin is on the bench after struggling with a back injury. Referee Mike Dean is back in action after being hit on the head with a coin at Ninian Park.[LNB] The teams are in ahead of today's Premier League clash between Sunderland and Hull at the Stadium of Light:[LNB]Sunderland: Gordon, Bardsley, Davenport, Ferdinand, Collins, Edwards, Leadbitter, Tainio, Reid, Cisse, Jones.Subs: Fulop, Malbranque, Richardson, Ben-Haim, Murphy, Yorke, McShane.[LNB]Hull: Myhill, Ricketts, Zayatte, Turner, Dawson, Fagan, Geovanni, Boateng, Marney, Kilbane, Manucho.Subs: Duke, Doyle, Barmby, Mendy, Halmosi, Folan, Cousin.[LNB]Referee: Mike Dean (Wirral)[LNB] Updates will appear here from 1500 BST...[LNB]
