Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck has joined Sunderland on a season-long loan.

The 19-year-old has been linked with the Black Cats for much of the summer and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has now allowed Welbeck to leave for Wearside.
Sunderland boss Steve Bruce, whose side face Birmingham in their Barclays Premier League opener on Saturday, said: "He's a young man but he'll fit into our squad fantastically well."
