Sunderland seal deal to offload £2m strike flop Stokes to Hibernian

Sunderland striker Anthony Stokes has joined Hibernian on a three-year deal.

The former Arsenal trainee has struggled to make an impact at the Stadium of Light since his arrival in a £2m deal two years ago when Roy Keane persuaded him to turn down Celtic and Charlton.

The 21-year-old, who was once regarded as the great young hope of Irishfootball, has scored just three goals for the Wearside club and has hadloan spells at Sheffield United and Crystal Palace.
