Sunderland offer Sbargia chief scout's job but he may fancy Big Sam reunion

Former Sunderland boss Ricky Sbragia has been offered the chief scout's role at the Stadium of Light. Sbragia, who took over the club last season to narrowly steer them away from relegation, is seen as the ideal replacement for Mick Brown, who has left the club after two-and-a-half years. The Scot is considering the new offer but he is also believed to have the option of being reunited with Sam Allardyce at Blackburn. Sbragia was Allardyce's first team coach at Bolton before he returned to Sunderland under Roy Keane two years ago. When Sbragia quit at the end of last season, Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn vowed he had a job at the club for life but with Bruce and his new coaching team now in place on Wearside, his preferred role on the training ground is no longer an option, although he is aware of the importance of player recruitment after six months in the manager's seat. Brown, who was taken from Old Trafford by Keane, leaves an indifferent legacy at the club and will forever be remembered by fans as the man who recommended Swedish striker and £3 million signing Rade Prica.
