Sunderland keeper Ward joins Wolves on loan

Sunderland keeper Darren Ward has joined Championship leaders Wolves on loan until the end of the season. The 34-year-old former Wales keeper has teamed up with ex-Sunderland boss Mick McCarthy at Molineux under the emergency loan rule. Ward has not played for Sunderland since December 15, 2007 after suffering a number of injuries and following the arrival of Scotland international Craig Gordon and Hungary's Marton Fulop, who is currently the Sunderland Number One. Darren Ward in action for Sunderland in 2004 He made just four appearances last season, including one in the League Cup. Ward played a key role in Sunderland's rise up the Championship title two years ago and he has played more than 500 league and cup games with Mansfield, Notts County, Nottingham Forest, Norwich and Sunderland, as well as picking up five caps with Wales.
