Sunderland complete first summer signing as Riveros jets in

SUNDERLAND have completed their first signing of the summer after Paraguay international Cristian Riveros joined on a three-year deal.[LNB] Riveros, who was a free agent after his previous contract with Mexican club Crul Azul expired, will now return to his homeland to prepare for this summer's World Cup finals.[LNB] The 27-year-old will link up with compatriot Paulo Da Silva at the Stadium of Light.[LNB] He began his career playing for a number of Paraguayan clubs including San Lorenzo and Tacuary, and joined Cruz Azul in 2007.[LNB] He is primarily a central midfielder, who can also play on the left flank, and has won 45 international caps, scoring eight goals.[LNB] Riveros said: "Sunderland have shown trust in me as a person and as a footballer. The history here is good and I'm delighted to be joining the club."[LNB]
