Sunderland have snapped up Paraguay skipper Paulo da Silva on a free transfer. The centre-back was out of contract at Mexican side Deportivo Toluca and has agreed a three-yeal deal with the Black Cats. Da Silva, 29, becomes boss Steve Bruce's second signing of the summer after the arrival of £3.5million Manchester United striker Fraizer Campbell. 'I'm delighted to have signed a player of Paulo's experience,' said Bruce. 'He is captain of his country and has played at the highest level in South America so will bring leadership qualities to our side.' Da Silva has over 50 caps for his country and has spent time with Italian clubs Perugia and Venezia.
