Sunderland boss Bruce handed a boost as midfielder Cattermole returns

Lee Cattermole will return for Sunderland this week. [LNB]The £6million signing from Wigan is back in first-team training following a knee injury but while Tuesday's clash with Aston Villa will be too soon for the midfielder he is likely to get a run out for the reserves on Wednesday. [LNB]Sunderland play Hartlepool's second string this week and Cattermole has been lined up for one half against the League One side. [LNB] Battled back: Cattermole was injured in the 1-0 win over Liverpool in October[LNB]Manager Steve Bruce is looking for a lift after Portsmouth clinched a last-gasp draw on Saturday.
