Sunderland and Wigan agree £3m compensation for Bruce to become boss at Stadium of Light

Moving up: Bruce is heading back to the North East Wigan manager Steve Bruce has moved closer to taking over at Sunderland after the clubs agreed a compensation fee. Latics chairman Dave Whelan allowed Bruce to speak to the Black Cats after they agreed to pay a fee believed to be £3million. Bruce had also been linked with a move to Newcastle while Wigan look set to turn their attention to Swansea's Roberto Martinez.
