Right or wrongly?? Steve Bruce has named and shamed the players who he believes contributed to Saturday’s defeat after a Gyan strike give the Wearsider’s the lead. But is Bruce right to do so? Surely the fact that your own boss publically pointed the fingers at those who in his words “switched off” or could “have done better”. Especially within the same statement from Sunderland‘s boss, he referred to Sunderland goal keeper as “having a bad time at the minute”. Can quotes like this do any good for the player’s confidence, yes Sunderland goal keeper could have done better with Spurs first goal and didn’t have a great game against Stoke either, I am sure he already knows himself. But let’s face facts here how many times Gordon has pulled the Black Cats out the gutter, only this season he made a save against Bolton that was being compared to that of Sunderland legendary keeper Jimmy Montgomery’s save in the 1973 FA cup final. The other player Titus Bramble that received the fingering has also been a solid centre back this season, and has won over the fans over despite his back ground of sloppy defending many moons ago at in a bar coded styled top. But in all fairness Bramble like Gordon has been a vital part of Sunderland current campaign, and was a huge miss when sidelined due to injury, and to win over Sunderland fans after being tainted with playing for our lesser neighbours is not to be sniffed at! Yes we could and should have been better, and yes as professional footballers they should have been getting an arse kicking in the dressing room and on the training pitch, but to publically point the finger at individuals when there are others on the pitch that also need to pull their weight.
