Simone Pepe wanted by Sunderland: Steve Bruce to bid £15m for Udinese winger

Sunderland have launched an ambitious bid to sign Udinese's Italian international winger Simone Pepe.[LNB]The 26-year-old is highly sought after across Europe but Sunderland manager Steve Bruce wants to make a statement of intent with a £15million bid.[LNB]Bruce is determined not to suffer another indifferent campaign in the Premier League, knowing pressure will be on his job if he does, and will offload what he can in the summer to help offset the costs of rebuilding.[LNB] The £15m man: Pepe[LNB]He remains keen on Schalke's German striker Kevin Kuranyi who is a free agent and hopes to wrap up a deal for Paraguay international midfielder Cristian Riveros, 27, from Mexican side Cruz Azul.[LNB]But Pepe would prove a real coup if Bruce can pull it off.
