Shoulder woe for Cattermole
05 May 2010 - 17:12:20
Sunderland midfielder Lee Cattermole looks set to miss Sunday's Premier League finale against Wolves after dislocating his shoulder.
The 22-year-old midfielder has been sent for scans after picking up the injury during an innocuous training ground incident.
Cattermole has been plagued by a succession of injuries in his first season on Wearside.
Since joining in a £6million deal from Wigan Athletic last summer, the former England Under-21 international has been sidelined with heel and knee injuries.
"It was an innocuous challenge. We are waiting on reports but it seems he could have dislocated his shoulder," manager Steve Bruce told the club's official website.
"We will know more in 24 hours or so when we can let the supporters know exactly what's going on."
Earlier on Wednesday, the Black Cats also revealed that 20-year-old midfielder David Meyler is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines with serious knee ligament damage.
