Selection anguish for hot-shot Bent

01 June 2010 16:42
Sunderland striker Darren Bent has been left out of England's World Cup squad, with Fabio Capello chosing only four strikers in his final 23.[LNB] Bent had been named in the initial 30-man training squad for the friendlies against Mexico and Japan but has failed to make the plane for South Africa.[LNB]Bent, who scored 24 times in the Barclays Premier League last term, has yet to score a senior international goal in six appearances and played the first 45 minutes against Japan having been left on the bench against Japan.[LNB]The striker's snub means there will be no Sunderland players in an England shirt in South Africa.
