Sbragia sticking to his guns
Sunderland boss Ricky Sbragia is refusing even to consider striker Djibril Cisse's future until Barclays Premier League status is secured.
Since taking over from Roy Keane, Sbragia has insisted the Frenchman's situation would only be resolved at the end of the season, with his year-long loan deal drawing to a close.
And Sbragia insisted: "He [Cisse] is a Sunderland player, we pay him. He knows the situation, the fact that, if we get over the line, we will address the situation."
The Black Cats negotiated a fee for the 27-year-old when they set up his temporary move from Marseille last summer, although his price tag was agreed in euros and he would now be significantly more expensive because of the weakness of the pound.
However, reports last weekend suggested Cisse had reacted furiously to being left out of the starting line-up for the 0-0 draw at Bolton, prompting speculation, later denied by manager Harry Redknapp, Tottenham will step in to snap him up.
Sbragia has grown increasingly weary of stories surrounding the former Liverpool frontman and has told him and fellow loan signings Calum Davenport and Tal Ben Haim their respective futures will only be addressed once the club are mathematically assured of their presence in next season's top flight.
He said: "I can't do anything about it, that's just media speculation. I don't actually read the papers, to be honest with you, I am not that concerned.
"It just keeps popping up all the time. I don't know if it is coming from his side.
"We have said to them all - it's not been a secret - get us over the line and we will sit down and have a good chat about it."
