The Black Cats go into the showdown at the Stadium Light just one place and two points above the drop zone.
A win would help Sunderland leapfrog fellow relegation rivals Hull in the table and Sbragia is confident they can build on last weekend's performance against Manchester United to take all three points.
"I think it is a must-win situation and we know how big the game is going to be for us," Sbragia told Sky Sports News.
"We know Hull will be very difficult but we feel we have got enough to possibly get something from the game and we are encouraged by the performance last week.
"We know it is a different game, different opposition and we can't take them lightly and we have to have the same focus we had against Manchester United."
