Sbragia happy at McCartney reprieve but still ruing red card at Eastlands

Sunderland boss Ricky Sbragia has welcomed the FA's decision to overturn George McCartney's weekend dismissal.[LNB]The Northern Ireland defender is now free to play at former club West Ham on his return from international duty after his red card at Manchester City was rescinded earlier this week.[LNB] Waiting for the chop: McCartney expects Tanner to produce the red[LNB]Sunderland successfully appealed against McCartney's sending-off after providing video evidence that keeper Marton Fulop had the ball when McCartney committed his foul on City's England winger Shaun Wright-Phillips.[LNB]Sbragia, who has been contacted by referee Steve Tanner, is naturally delighted the experienced left-back is available to face his former club, although it is too late to change the 1-0 defeat at Eastlands.[LNB]He said: 'We're happy with the outcome and credit to the referee, he's looked at the situation again, he's not seen it as a red card and he phoned me up to apologise, even though it was the linesman's decision.[LNB]'But it's a bit late really. It doesn't change the outcome and George shouldn't have been sent off.
