Richardson sights on Europe

Kieran Richardson believes Sunderland should be thinking positively by targeting a place in Europe. The Black Cats have spent the season striving to stay out of the relegation zone and are currently five points outside the bottom three with 10 games left to play. Wigan Athletic visit the Stadium of Light next weekend and Richardson feels victory over Steve Bruce's side should prompt Sunderland to look towards European qualification. "If we win next week, then we could be safe," said Richardson. "But you have got to play to the end. "Obviously, we all want to stay in the Premier League, but there is a chance there for us to get into Europe, so why not kick on? Positive thinker"We are talking about relegation, but you win three games on the bounce and you are up there. "I am just keeping my head steady. I just want to see Sunderland move up the table and see what happens up there. "Relegation, there is still a chance, but I am a positive thinker and I think Sunderland won't be there." He added: "The lads did well today and we were very, very upset we didn't get the result we needed. "If we had got those three points, we would have looked quite comfortable. "But the main thing you have got to concentrate on is the next game and don't get worried or bogged down by other people's results or the next five games. "You take each game at a time and next week we have got Wigan."
