Richardson happy to make return

Sunderland midfielder Kieran Richardson says he was determined to make his first-team return from injury in the 2-0 defeat by Arsenal on Saturday.Richardson, 27, last made an appearance for the Black Cats against Everton in January having been out with a calf injury picked up in the 2-0 loss. [LNB]"I'm a young man and I have a lot of ambition," he told BBC Newcastle. [LNB]"I want to play at the highest level, and playing at the Emirates is the highest level, I'm glad I played." [LNB]Sunderland, who are three points above the relegation zone, have failed to win a league game since beating Arsenal on 21 November. [LNB]England international Richardson has been with Sunderland since July 2007, having moved to the North East from Manchester United for £5.5m, and has made 74 appearances in all competitions. [LNB]Prior to his move to the Stadium of Light, the London-born winger made 81 appearances for Sir Alex Ferguson's United side and also enjoyed a fruitful loan spell at West Bromwich Albion, helping them to escape relegation from the Premier League in 2005.
