Reid: Speed was a big attraction

Andy Reid has cited Sheffield United manager Gary Speed as the main reason behind his loan move to Bramall Lane.[LNB] Sunderland midfielder Reid, 28, signed for an initial month in time to step off the bench for his debut in the 1-0 home defeat to Coventry on Saturday.[LNB]Reid, recovering from a hamstring injury, said: "The gaffer here was a massive attraction for me. He likes to play football and that's what I want to do too.[LNB]"I've come up against him as a player and I've spoken to people who know him since he accepted this job.[LNB]"There isn't anyone in the game who has got anything other than good words to say about the gaffer and his ideas. So, yes, he is definitely one of the reasons why I came."[LNB]Reid said: "Once the chance of a loan switch comes up it tends to happen quickly so I'm delighted to be here and, hopefully, I can do well for Sheffield United.[LNB]"I haven't looked too far ahead. My initial spell is for a month and then we'll see what happens.[LNB]"I haven't played much at all due to injuries but I have trained well and I'm feeling good at the moment.[LNB]"Sunderland have been grinding out results and doing OK so the manager hasn't really had to change it too much. I just need games and we decided it was for the best that I came out on loan and this is a great club to come to."
