Reid recruitment drive under way

Billy Reid's summer recruitment drive is already under way after the Hamilton boss watched Aston Villa's second string beat Sunderland to win the Barclays Premier Reserve League. Reid was at Villa Park on Thursday to cast his eye over some of the talent on show, having already stated his intention to bring up to eight players to New Douglas Park this summer. "We've got some targets and we're just checking up on them," Reid said. Despite masterminding Hamilton's successful bid to stay in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League following their promotion - the first time the club have achieved the feat - Reid expects a huge turnaround of playing staff this summer. A number of out-of-contract players will move on - Chris Swailes has already been released - while the club will sell some of their young stars if the price is right. Hamilton's survival was secured last weekend but they may have been safe a lot sooner had an injury crisis not hit their squad earlier this year. Reid knows he needs a larger player pool next season. "We'll go and add to the squad so we'll look to get maybe eight players," he said. "I now know what I need to remain in the league and progress next year."
